Assignments

For students: submitting your work, re-uploading, and what happens when work is returned.

A lesson or module can carry one or more assignments. Open the lesson's Assignment tab, or the module's Assignments tab, to find yours — each assignment has its own card there, with a status badge:

  • Not submitted — nothing uploaded yet.
  • Awaiting grading — you've submitted and it's waiting on a grade.
  • Returned for revision — sent back with a note on what to change.
  • Score N — graded, with your score.
  • Completed on Moodle — carried over from before you moved to this course (see below).

If the assignment has an instructions file, an Instructions (PDF) link sits on its card — open it to see what's expected.

Submitting your work

  1. On the assignment's card, select the file field below the attempt history (it's labelled Upload your work, or Replace your file or Upload your revised work once you've submitted before).
  2. Choose a PDF or Word (.docx) file, up to 20 MB.
  3. Select Submit →.

While your submission is still awaiting grading, you can re-upload — the new file replaces the current one; it doesn't start a new attempt. Once it's graded, you can't upload again unless it's returned for revision.

Returned for revision

If a grader isn't satisfied with your work, they can return it with a note explaining what to change — instead of grading it, or even after they already have. The card shows Returned for revision and the reviewer's note. Uploading a new file at this point starts a new, numbered attempt — your earlier attempt, with its file, score and the reviewer's note, stays visible in the attempt history below.

Attempt history

Every attempt you've made for an assignment is listed, newest first, each showing:

  • the attempt number and when it was submitted, with a link to the file you uploaded;
  • its score and grading feedback, once graded;
  • the reviewer's note, if it was returned for revision.

"Completed on Moodle" assignments

If your earlier progress was carried over from Moodle, an assignment you'd already completed there shows Completed on Moodle and is closed to new uploads — there's nothing for you to do. If the reviewer attached your original Moodle file, a Your Moodle submission link lets you open it.
